This is a great opportunity to learn how to ride your bike safely! League-Certified instructors will share their wealth of knowledge and make sure you leave feeling comfortable riding on the road and in traffic.

***This class is divided into two essential portions:  A Classroom Session and a corresponding Road Session.
This gives participants the chance to take the information and skills learned in the classroom and be able to practice on the road with instructors!

This Classroom Session 1 will cover: your legal rights and responsibilities, guidelines for safely riding in traffic, how to negotiate all San Diego County roads and intersections, emergency manuevers, using public transit as a cyclist.

The Classroom Session 1 will take place at Veterans Community Center, 785 East Palomar Street, Chula Vista, CA 91911

The Road Session will take place in a different location: Heritage Park, 1381 East Palomar Street, Chula Vista CA 91913

The Road Session 2 will cover: proper bike and helmet fit, flat tire repair secrets, adjustments, minor repair, quick fixes, bicycle handling skills and emergency maneuvers, driving your bicycle safely and confidently in traffic.

This League of American Bicyclists certified class is led by League of American Bicyclists Cycling Instructors.

Upon completion of the Road Session, graduates will be given a diploma

All participants will receive a helmet and bike lights.

This event is a part of Walk+Bike Chula Vista: The City of Chula Vista’s Recreation Department, together with local non-profits Circulate San Diego and the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition, has begun a new campaign designed to promote and encourage walking and biking throughout the City. This grant funded program is expected to culminate in an Open Streets Event in April 2017.
